Hello Village members,
This is an online community, and just like any other community, we too have certain non-negotiable rules of engagement. Nothing too crazy, but we’ve got to have them, you know.
This is meant to keep you and others safe from dangers that lurk online, such as trolling, stalking, impersonation, identity theft, etc, all of which Single Parents are statistically more prone to experience simply because we are a more vulnerable set of people.
Additionally, it will also help us continue our efforts to keep the entirety of the online community safe within The Village.
So, please, make sure you abide by them.
What you can do:
- Be kind. Almost everyone using The Village’s online services is going through a difficult time, and a few kind words can make a huge difference.
- Keep it light. Know that all contributions are made by single parents and are based on their own lived experiences. Try not to take anything personally.
- Share your personal experiences, which can give others hope, as well as ideas and tips to try out.
- Consider responding to posts or comments from users who need support and haven’t yet received a reply.
- Respect the privacy of community members—do not engage with them on social media without their consent.
- Report any concerns directly to The Village admin team, whether you believe a child or adult is at risk of harm or come across posts or comments (public or private) that make you uncomfortable or seem suspicious. Do not address these concerns directly on the feed or with the person involved.
- Obtain permission before sharing or reproducing other users’ content from the forum or digital groups on other platforms.
- Seek agreement from The Village before posting website links on the forum. However, posting links on social media and tagging The Village is permitted, while keeping in mind that The Village reserves the right to remove them if they do not align with our values, and guidelines, or provide the best available advice.
- Refrain from promoting commercial ventures, including advertisements for accommodations, products, services, or activities that involve costs or fees.
- Do not engage in spamming or trolling activities.
Consequences of not following these rules:
If we find that you are misusing your privileges here or are endangering the sanity and safety of others, we will first reach out to you in order to understand why this is happening.
Failing this, we will remove you from all present and future conversations within ‘The Village.
Beyond this, we are also not shy about litigation.
